At Cecile Boutique, we believe that flowers do more than decorate: they accompany, protect, and illuminate. That is why, on dates dedicated to the Virgin, many of our bouquets include a Miraculous Medal, a symbol filled with history and hope.

Far from being a simple accessory, this medal originates from one of the most profound spiritual moments in Catholic tradition. Its presence alongside a bouquet transforms the gift into an act of love, devotion, and companionship.

The Origin of the Miraculous Medal

The history of the medal comes from a mystical experience lived by Saint Catherine Labouré, a young novice of the Daughters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul. On the night of July 18–19, 1830, a mysterious child led her to the chapel. There, in absolute silence, Catherine found herself before the Virgin Mary.

For hours they shared a deep conversation made of words and gestures. Before leaving, the Virgin entrusted Catherine with a mission: to create a medal exactly as she had seen it during the apparition. Since then, the Church has known it as the Miraculous Medal.

The Meaning of Its Symbols

Every element on this medal carries a spiritual meaning:

  • The Virgin standing on the world: her role as Queen of Heaven and Earth.

  • The serpent beneath her feet: the triumph of good over evil.

  • The twelve stars and the blue mantle: a reference to the woman of the Book of Revelation.

  • Rays flowing from her hands: the graces the Virgin grants to those who ask.

  • The inscription “O Mary, conceived without sin…”: affirmation of her Immaculate Conception.

  • The intertwined “M” and cross: the spiritual union between Mary and Jesus.

  • The Sacred Hearts: devotion to the hearts of Jesus and Mary.

Because of these symbols, the medal is considered a sign of protection, light, and spiritual companionship.

Why We Include It with Our Bouquets

When flowers are offered to the Virgin or to a loved one, we want that gesture to carry deep meaning. The Miraculous Medal becomes:

  • A reminder of the Virgin’s protection.

  • A symbol of devotion that enhances the spiritual meaning of the gift.

  • A keepsake that remains even after the flowers are gone.

  • A detail that transforms the bouquet into an act of gratitude and intention.

Our Wish

Every arrangement we create for the Day of the Virgin and for devotional occasions is meant to transmit love, faith, and gratitude.
That is why we include the Miraculous Medal: so that the person who receives the bouquet may feel the presence and tenderness of the Virgin long after the flowers have completed their cycle.
